Artificial intelligence is increasingly transforming how businesses communicate with customers, and India's financial sector could be the next major beneficiary of specialised AI infrastructure.
Blue Machines AI has launched Aurora, a multilingual speech-to-text model specifically designed for India's Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) sector. The company says the model is built to handle the complexity of real-world financial conversations, where customers frequently switch between Hindi, English and other regional languages.
Unlike general-purpose speech recognition systems, Aurora has been trained with terminology commonly used across the financial industry. This includes terms such as EMIs, KYC, premiums, SIPs, NAVs, policy numbers, transaction IDs and other financial identifiers.
One of Aurora's key focuses is understanding code-mixed conversations such as Hinglish, which are extremely common among Indian consumers. The technology is also designed to function in challenging conditions, including noisy environments and low-bandwidth telephone connections.
According to the company's internal benchmarking, Aurora demonstrated low error rates across English, Hindi and multilingual BFSI conversations. The model can also recognise critical financial information such as monetary amounts, interest rates, account references and transaction-related details.
The development reflects a larger shift within India's AI ecosystem. Instead of relying solely on general-purpose global AI models, companies are increasingly building specialised systems tailored to specific industries and local linguistic requirements.
For banks, insurers and fintech companies, accurate speech recognition could help improve customer support, onboarding, collections, lending and other customer-facing operations. However, financial AI systems also face higher expectations around accuracy, security and compliance, making specialised infrastructure increasingly important.
Aurora can also be adapted using customer-authorised enterprise data, allowing institutions to customise the system around proprietary terminology, regional accents and specific interaction patterns.
The launch comes at a time when India's financial services industry is accelerating its adoption of artificial intelligence. As millions of consumers interact with banks and financial platforms in multiple languages, multilingual AI could become a critical layer of India's future digital financial infrastructure.
With Aurora, Blue Machines AI is positioning itself within the growing movement toward India-focused, industry-specific and sovereign AI solutions—a segment expected to become increasingly important as enterprises move AI projects from experimentation into large-scale deployment.
